Joining hands for Ukraine: this is how you can contribute

03-03-2022 | 13:07

Since the start of the invasion of Ukraine, many people have been wondering how they can help. Fortunately, there are charities that are committed to assisting the victims of this war. People are also raising money and taking action on our platforms. For example, the Cooperating Aid Organisations are joining forces under the name Giro555 to collect money for Ukraine. But other organisations are also doing their bit.

National action - Take action together for Ukraine: Giro555

In the event of exceptional disasters, 11 collaborating aid organisations join forces under the name Giro555. Together they can offer more help. Giro555 has started a national campaign. You can start your own fundraisers via https://www.inactievoorgiro555.nl/. In addition to the peer-to-peer platform, Giro555 has a Digicollect platform - https://giro555.digicollect.nl/ - on which you can easily create your own online collection box. Sharing your box and gathering donations is very easy. Of course you can also donate. The money raised will be spent by Giro555 on food, shelter, medical care and clean drinking water. The participating aid organisations behind Giro555 are on the ground or helping through local partners. They provide immediate emergency assistance on the spot. The 11 collaborating aid organisations are: Stichting Vluchteling, Cordaid, CARE Nederland, Kerk in Actie, Oxfam Novib, Save the Children, UNICEF, Dutch Red Cross, Plan International, Terre des Hommes and World Vision.

24-hour music marathon: De Jostiband (with Ipse de Brugge)

Organisations that are not affiliated with Giro555 are also raising funds and contributing. This is why, today, https://www.jostimarathon.nl/ was launched. Together with initiator Ipse de Brugge, the Jostiband will make music for no less than 24 hours in a row during the Jostimarathon this weekend. They started this special campaign to raise money for the inhabitants of Ukraine. A donation to the Jostimarathon will benefit the Bake4Ukraine project. This local project provides people in Ukraine with food and drink.

VluchtelingenWerk Nederland is ready to receive and help Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands. At https://www.actievoorvluchtelingenwerk.nl/project/oekraine, you can start a fundraiser or donate to contribute. In addition, VluchtelingenWerk has launched the platform http://www.nederlandvoorvluchtelingen.nl/ with even more ways to help.

Shelter in the neighbouring countries: Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Netherlands offers assistance in arranging the reception of Ukrainian refugees in their neighbouring countries Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania. Habitat employees are on site there and work together with the government and local partners on emergency aid and shelter for Ukrainians in need. You can donate via https://bouwmee.habitat.nl/activiteit/oekraine?locale=nl.
